Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

N-NE aspects in this area remain quite rocky below 9,000' (photo). Above 9,000', the snowpack rapidly becomes deeper. Snowpit observations indicate the potential for the return of faceting to old near surface facets that were rounding prior to the last storm. Current temp gradient in the mid and upper snowpack is significant. Old wind slab now mid height in the snowpack showed recent faceting in the weaker layers above and below. Snowpit tests pointed towards a potential future stability concern. Skier weighting of fresh wind slabs along the summit ridgeline on SW aspects did not yield any evidence of instability. Overall, no signs of current snowpack instability were observed while on tour in this area.
