Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Near crust facets are becoming increasingly well developed on northerly aspects in this area. Faceted crystals now show a few striations within the top 1 cm of the layer directly below the uppermost rain crust. The overall rate of faceting remains slow, but a significant increase in development has occurred since the last pit data was collected in this area on Dec 29. On solar aspects, melt-freeze conditions are becoming increasingly established in response to well above freezing daytime air temperatures.

Photo: 5 cm of wet surface snow, on S aspect at ~8,100' at 10:45 am.
