Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

The crew punched a snowpit to the ground this morning on Andesite Ridge.  Only minor weaknesses IDed, most grain forms damp to wet and at/near 0 C.  No fractures revealed with column tests (ECTX x2, CTN).  Old facets rounding found at bottom of profile; their height (~10 cm) overwhelmed by local terrain roughness.  1-2 mm sugary NCFs found sandwiched between surface MF crust and rain crust on valley floor below.  Temperature of those grains at 0930 -2.5 C.  From our distance we could not see any recent wet loose snow avxs on the SSW face of Castle Pk.
