Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

On the south side of Castle Peak the surface snow was wet and loose.  Roller balls and pin wheels were observed.  Depending on evelation the amount of snow above the 1/29 rain varied from 2" to 10".  In the shaded areas the snow varies from breakable crust, wet surface snow and isolated pockets of cold winter snow with little to no influence from the sun.  On the north side of Castle Peak the strong east winds have scoured the starting zones down to the 1/29 rain crust.
