Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Observations and data indicated that the snowpack continues to gain strength in the Tamarack area. Ski cuts on test slopes did not produce any signs of instability, snowpit data showed a well bonded consolidated snowpack, and general observations also did not reveal any lingering signs of instability. The snowpack got progressively more dense and hard as the depth increased. At 9600 ft on Tamarack Peak, the snowpack measured 480 cm in depth. The Jan 9th rain crust was about 2m below the surface. Observations showed good bonding around this crust and no signs of weak layer formation. On the snow surface, 3-5 mm surface hoar was widespread as was a thin breakable rime crust.
