More detailed information about the snowpack:

A variable refreeze existed on Stevens Peak. Refreeze on the lower elevations was poor and not supportable. Deep, wet, sticky, and punchy snow existed on all aspects below 8200 ft. Above 8200 ft. after 11 a.m, 1 to 2 inches of soft corn snow existed on top of a thin but supportable melt-freeze crust from last night's refreeze on E-SE-S aspects. Below that crust deep unsupportable wet snow still existed. Ski cuts started to trigger some very small pinwheels on steep E-NE aspects below 8000 ft. around noon.
