OHV Avalanche Education level 1 North Tahoe / Truckee Class Full

This course is Full with a wait list. Check back for registration on the next course 6 weeks before the scheduled class date.

The Sierra Avalanche Center is proud to announce and offer motorized-specific classes that meet the American Avalanche Association standards for Level 1. These are 3 day / 24 hour classes provided by a grant from the California OHV Motor Recreation Commission. The purpose of these classes is to teach participants to use a repeatable process for making decisions and managing risk while riding in avalanche terrain.
Although the emphasis in these classes is on avalanche avoidance, the decision making and risk management process that is taught encompasses many other considerations, and the field time offered by your instructors may include additional topics. These courses are taught by professional educators and riders that will emphasize skills development both in the classroom and on the snow.
Be prepared both for engaging learning and riding during this 3 day course. Participants must have basic riding gear like appropriate clothing and helmet, avalanche rescue equipment (beacon, shovel and probe), and a registered and properly functioning sled.
This class is valued at over $500, and brought to you for free by the Sierra Avalanche Center in partnership with the California OHVMR. Please register only if you are committed to participating, as capacity is very limited.
