Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Aspects facing the northern half of the compass and shaded areas on any aspects remained frozen and firm through at least mid-day. Test pits showed a strong thick melt-freeze crust on all aspects in this area. A softer but still cohesive layer of snow exists under this crust. On SE-S-SW aspects that received direct sunshine the snow surface did start to soften. By 11 am 1-2 inches of soft "corn" snow had formed above the supportable melt-freeze crust. No signs of instability were observed today.

Photo 1: 1 inch of soft corn snow on a south aspect at about 7600 ft.
