Northstar Jr. Patrol Registration Deadline

This winter Northstar and Helly Hansen will launch its second year of the Junior Patrol program, open to
local Truckee skiers and riders from grades 8-10. Throughout the program, participants will be divided
into groups with a ski patroller to learn mountain safety, the duties and responsibilities of Patrol,
orientation, CPR/First Aid, patrol tour of outposts, end-of day sweeps, avalanche awareness, closer
awareness, toboggan training, and non-medical training.

Saturday, January 25th
Sunday, January 26th
Sunday, February 23rd
Sunday, March 8th
 
The Northstar Junior Patrol Program will be open to 12 select students. To be eligible for the program,
students must be in grades 8 through 10, at a level 7 skiing ability, be available for all program dates,
and submit an application.
 
*Applications accepted from December 8, 2019 to January 12, 2020. Ski test will follow on January 25,
2020.
 
Application Process
 Applicant to submit a video essay and email to NSjuniorpatrol@gmail.com
 Explain interest in the program, and a favorite experience of a lifetime.
 Please include footage of the applicant skiing.
The goal of this program is to provide local youth a sense of their responsibility when skiing and
riding at Northstar and, through this educational program, allow them to become safety
ambassadors when on the mountain.
