Multiple red flags north facing south lake area

Had successfully skied this zone from higher up recently down to 7350 feet, stop short of entering more complex steep terrain below out of an abundance of caution. This morning I decided to approach from below so I could access conditions in this zone on the way up.

got my first big whoop at 7023 feet, 26 degree slope, hand pits yielded very poor results on an ice layer above very sugary snow with about a foot of new snow, ground was just below the sugar.

Felt if I could find a safe way up to the zone I skied earlier I could ski back the way I came and do a car retrieval later.

at elevation 7231 on a 30 degree slip I got a second big whoop. Did a fast and quick extended column with my pole and it failed after 3 light taps.

pulled the plug and went home, might take sliding down to the ground to heal this zone
