Snow Pit on Powderhouse

We arrived at the Powderhouse trailhead after noon. The sky had FEW clouds and became cloudier as the day progressed becoming overcast by 430pm. Temperatures were well above freezing all afternoon. Light NW winds were felt in the meadow and quickly became calm as we were sheltered on the North side. The snow was wet and heavy. We dug a pit around 8000 ft  in an open areas of the woods. We found evidence that the PWL is rounding in this area. Although no propogation was noted in our snowpit test we could see evidence of rounding facets under a crust only 19 cm below the surface.
