Mixed test results below Powderhouse

Our group dug a pit this afternoon at the base of Powderhouse Peak, and got some mixed test results, with two sudden planar compression test results on the Dec. 11 facet layer and one ECTX. The Dec. 11 facets were 2mm in size here, and about a meter beneath the surface. Snow depth at our location was 127cm.

Very shaded areas still held soft surface snow, but it seemed that any slope that had received any direct sunlight had developed a thin melt-freeze crust.
