Rubicon Peak

We dug a snow pit near the top of rubicon at about 8,750 feet. We did an extended column test is a slighlty sheltered area and isolated just below the new old snow interface. There was a 5cm rain crust underneath 40cm of new snow. We did not see any failure with this test ECTX. Above this pit the snow became quite wind effected and kicking at wind lips caused them the fail easily. The largest of which, in photo 2 cracked about 2.5 meters long and was 25 cm deep. This wind effect was much more pronounced on the North side of the peak than the East.
