More detailed information about the snowpack:

Toured below treeline and near treeline in Upper South Fork Cold Stream today. Snowing 2 in per hour making visibility difficult. Some cracking and test slope failures in wind affected areas. Slab failure was occuring 32 to 37 cm deep in the snowpack. Very easy to create failure but fracture propagation do not go very far. No evidence of instability in wind sheltered areas. Photo is of test slope failure in near treeline terrain, N aspect at 8,000'.
