Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Snow surface conditions during the morning hours consisted of surface melt freeze crust on all aspects from the trailhead at 7,400' up to summit at 9,700'. At 9:30am, breakable crust conditions existed on all aspects below 8,600'. Above 8,800' supportable crust conditions existed on all aspects. No evidence of snow surface melting existed on any aspect above 9,000' at 11:30am. Below 8,800', 1 to 2 inches of melted surface snow existed on SE-S-SW aspects at noon. At that time the snow surface remained supportable. Hand pits indicated that below the top 4 to 6 inches of the snowpack, cold moist 4F to 1F hard recent storm snow existed on all aspects and all elevations traveled. No evidence of instability was observed.
