More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Snowcover inadadequate for skinning below about 8400 feet in this area. During the morning lower elevations were below freezing but temperatures quickly rose with elevation. Even around 9000 feet, although possible to ski, many obstacles continue to poke out of the snow. Open steeper areas above 8500 feet had widespread soft facets on the surface, with some small areas holding wind slabs on top.
