Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

This pit was dug about 30 feet north of the pit from 1/3/17, on the same slope, same elevation.  115cm difference in total snow depth.  Strong signs of settlement throughout the snowpack with consolidation of the most recent layers from this weeks storm cycle.  Still finding that facet layer deep, under the new snow.  I was up on the ridge until about 5:30, 2-5mm surface hoar was quick to show up on the east aspect as soon as the sun went down; temps dropped extremely quick as well.
