Small slab avalanche in Ward Canyon

We descended a line in the trees to far skiers left of cindercone, about halfway between Little Alaska and Twin Peaks. There is an isolated convexity that is usually a small chute, but is completely covered now. A ski cut right above the convexity triggered a slab avalanche with that ran down the 50 foot slope into a large tree. The crown appeared to be 6-8 inches at the deepest part and about 20 feet wide

On our way up via Grouse, I noticed some slab characteristics in a test slope next to a tree leading to caution on our line. We did not notice any other signs of instability on our tour. We encountered a variety of snow surface conditions from icy, breakable crust, to soft snow with surprisingly slow warming throughout the day.
