Partly reactive test slopes

Snow showers throughout the day, and continued wind loading. Large cornices observed, and some recently broken off that didn't trigger the slopes below. Warm temps with wet surface snow below 7600ft, but cold and dry snow above. 2ft of recent snow observed above a thin double rain crust.

Pic 1: Test slopes needed to be undercut to produce results, in this case undercut by the snowcat road. I cut at least 75ft across this slope, and it was only when I was very close to the cat road that I finally got results. In other locations, stacking tracks produced cracking and minor displacement. Weak layer was lower density rimed precip, under higher density wind deposit.

Pic 2: 2x ECTNs about 60ft apart from each other on windloaded NE aspect near pin drop. Afterwards, shovel shears on the remaining columns were clean and planar, on lower density rimed precip under higher density wind deposit. 

Pics 1 and 2 are several miles apart from each other, with similar results, and similar results observed with mitt pits in between these locations.

Lots of settlement cones and cracks observed near trees. In Hope Valley, fence posts are beginning to show at the surface.
