Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Test pits dug near treeline a 8,000' on a N aspect 35 degree slope and above treeline at 8,200' on a N aspect 30 degree slope found no evidence of the hard slab instability seen yesterday on Carson Pass. Melt freeze conditions existed on all aspects up to the summit at 8,300'. Areas below 7,400' showed evidence of very weak or no overnight refreeze. Better than expected overnight refreeze evident above 7,800' with supportable corn conditions on SE aspects at 11:45 am.

Photo: Natural roller ball activity off of rock buttress at 8,050' NNE aspect. Likely occured in the past day or two. Photo taken from 8,000' test pit location.
