There was wide variability in snow conditions in the Carpenter area.  Unconsolidated storm snow in sheltered areas was close to two feet deep.  Wind exposed terrain held a combination of scoured snow, breakable crust and wind buff.  Informal tests revealed minimal signs of instability.
