Wind loading on Rubicon

In the 7000-7500ft elevation range, we saw sun affected surface snow and surface hoar. These areas were a low percentage of total snow cover and likely will not act as a weak layer when new snow deposits. SW winds were blowing strongly above treeline, transporting small amounts of snow. We saw signs of extreme wind scour, and it seems most snow has already been transported. In this zone the wind crust was about 2-3cm thick, breakable in some places with increasing firmness as we ascended.
