Castle Peak

We skied castle peak this afternoon. Near the summit we encountered some small fragile wind slabs in the most recent snow. Photo 1 is representative of what we found in a few different locations, small but would break quite easily ~2-4 inches deep. We saw only a handful of smaller loose wet point releases under the main cliff bands on castle peak. Photo 2 is of a SW facing slope at 5pm, which had small chunks of rime ice raining down on it. Only 1 or 2 of which entrained more snow forming small roller balls. The skier’s right side of the NW trees on castle was fairly sun baked with a fair amount of breakable crust. On SW slopes, the sun had softened the wind effected snow/scoured sections and they skied alright.
