Carson Pass-Elephants Back to Round Top Observations and Triggered Slide

Saturday was warm and clear. Previous evening camping 8000 feet was well above freezing. Approach to Round Top showed a number of wet slides and sluff all around and steep aspects skiers left from Round Top (The Sisters) showed signs of large recent slides (large crown) within the past 7 days. Northwest facing aspects at Round Top were loaded and with warm overnight and increase in day time temp we took much care on slopes 30 degrees plus. Rollers on all of these slopes. While skinning around Winnemuca lake to ascend Round Top we witnessed the second skier in a pair set off wet slide mid way down on the terrain between the lake and Round Top. No injuries as the skier was in front of the slide and skied clear. Lower terrain on the descent to Red Lake at 1:30 saw some loaded aspects with high water content.
