Snow pit from near yuba pass

The December 11 facet layer is widely present. We never rode above tree line, or on southern aspects. On northerly aspects you could feel the dec 11 layer everytime you put a boot in the snow, you would condense the new snow, then fall through the facet layer.

we dug a pit at 7,700' on a NW aspect. 18degree slope.

the dec11 layer is very noticeable and falls apart when digging.

No other signs of instabilities were observed.
