Quick Column Test and Shooting Cracks near Echo Summit

N facing slope at 7,300ft. First quick column test failed while the pole was still sawing across. Made another test in the same spot and took a video, which also failed on the same layer. The failure layer appears to be the old/new snow interface. This column failure was reactive and popped off without effort to do so.

Same slope, approximately 50ft below the site of the column test, skier heard and felt a whumpf. Skier stopped to look to each side and saw a shooting crack propagated from their location, approximately 15ft to either direction, perpendicular to fall line.

Observations appear consistent with the forecast.
