Wind Slabs and Wet Loose on Hidden Peak

We went to Hidden Peak to make observations today.  Overnight snow levels in this area looked to be around 6500-7000' with some snow remaining on trees above this elevation.  Rain levels were on the rise this morning with moderate rain up to around 7500'.  S2 snow and moderate blowing snow was observed above 8000' with more intense blowing snow from 8-9000' with gale force SW winds.  Overall conditions remained wet and damp throughout the day.  Visibility was too poor on the summit ridge to see much else beside some large cornices forming.  As we moved down through terrain, ski cuts on test slopes produced small wind slab avalanches that propagated and ran down slope.  Most of these wind slabs were in the 4 to 6'' range.  As we crossed the bench and headed down into below treeline terrain, wet loose avalanches started to occur on steep rollovers.  Widespread tree bombs and roller balls were also occurring throughout this area.  Snow conditions deteriorated as we descended with increasingly more unsupportable and slow/sticky snow conditions.  Rain soaked snow was 6 to 10'' deep below 7000'.
