Description of Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Conditions:

Went for a short tour to practice snow climbing. Snow was soft (2-3" ski pen) on solar aspects and refreezing in the shade. Steeper terrain was highly aspect dependent with northerly aspects near bulletproof and southwest aspects up to 16" boot pen. Crust was quickly refreezing around 4 pm. Pleasant soft, and smooth skiing in Shirley canyon. Creek crossings are deep, and the number of viable snow bridges is diminishing. Observed some 8mm surface hoar at 8400'+.
