More detailed information about the avalanche: 

 This avalanche took place just below the summit of Fireplug near Tamarack peak. The crown was 6-8" deep and 500+ ft wide. The entire slope slid after my first turn, and I immediately skied out of the avalanche path.

I was below treeline but in an open area with sparse trees. The avalanche was probably D1/D2 just because it was so long-though it wasn't deep enough to fully bury a person.
