More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Patchy snowpack on N-E terrain on Silver Peak and surrounding peaks, south aspects are almost completely free of snow.  Basal facets are rounding and moist and easily make a snowball.  At the higher elevations, the surface windcrust is firm and smooth.

Light clouds covering the whole sky through the morning and darkening by midday.  Strong SW winds at the upper elevations and ridgelines/peaks.  Temps hovering around freezing and higher.  Light precipitation starting at 1pm in the form of rain on my hike out below 6400'.
