More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Even though temperatures did not climb as high today as yesterday and the northerly/easterly winds were stronger, sun-exposed, south aspects did soften today in the Mt. Rose area. By 2pm 1-4 inches of soft corn snow existed on the surface on these aspects. Below this soft snow a firm refrozen crust remained. On the notherly aspects and in the shade the snow surface remained frozen today.
