Pit graph: Surface rain crust from the January 13 precipitation event is faceting and breaking down on shaded N aspects.

Photo: Taken from a hand pit at 39.22224,-120.24334 (7,960' on the ESE aspect on the opposite side of the ridge and slightly west of the above pit location). At 1pm, 6cm of melted wet snow on surface, 24cm of knife hard ice below. Blue marker is at the base of the melt layer/top of the ice layer. The yellow marker is at the bottom of the ice layer.
