Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Cold, soft snow remained on the northerly aspects at all elevations on Angora. In sheltered areas the snow surface showed no signs of wind effects. In the more open and exposed areas near and above treeline, most areas remained soft without a noticable wind crust. Some ripples on the snow surface were all that indicated east winds on these more open slopes. In small areas near the highest ridgelines, more scouring had occurred and the snow surface was firm. Ski cuts did not produce results on most steep, wind-affected and non-wind-affected slopes. On some 40-45 degree, slopes ski cuts did produce minor sluffing in the top 4 inches of the snowpack. Surface hoar and near surface facets have formed on the snow surface on northerly aspects in this area. Evidence of several natural avalanches that occurred during the last storm remains visible in the area.
