More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Alternating layers of crusts and facets existed in the upper snowpack on the the northerly aspects in this area today. The lower 75% of the snowpack consisted of strong stable snow. The crusts in the upper portion of the snowpack continue to weaken and are now very easily breakable. Some areas of soft snow exist on the snow surface on the northerly aspects.

By noon 1-2 inches of soft wet snow had formed on top of a supportable melt-freeze crust on the sun-exposed southerly aspects up to at least 8200 ft.
