Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Very good snowpack stability in this area. Facets below the rain crust are rounding and are much stronger than what has been observed recently in other locations around the forecast area, mainly along the Sierra Crest. No evidence of instability in this area today. Snowpit tests indicate that snowpack failure and propagation are unlikely in this area at this time.

Around 0.25 to 0.5cm of new snow exists in this area from snow showers this morning. Thin brittle melt freeze crusts exist on northerly aspects up to at least 9,600'. Surface melt freeze crust is more developed and thicker on southerly aspects.
