The persistent weak layer of crusts and facets hardly exists in this area. It is much weaker, well developed, and more widespread in areas along the Sierra Crest. The snowpack in this area is in very good condition to handle new snow loading.

South aspects in this area between 9,200' and 8,700' remained frozen solid at noon.
