More detailed information about the snowpack: 

pics 1 and 2: On open slopes at and below treeline, facets just below the surface crust can be easily pressed together. Mild temps and high humidity were promoting rounding.

pic 3: Elephant's Back bowl probed in several areas at less than 100cm (last probed on 1/23 at 160cm). Facets just below the crust remain weak, and hand shears were Easy to Very Easy. No signs of slab development.
