Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Faceting processes are at work on N and NE aspects in this area. Near crust facets are fairly weak, but snowpit tests indicate that propagation is unlikely upon weak layer collapse. These weak layers are not an instability issue at this time, but warrant monitoring for future loading events.

Snow surface conditions on N-NE aspects consist of 1 to 2 inches of dry recent storm snow on top of supportable crust in near and below treeline areas with protection from NE winds. Areas with exposure to NE winds are scoured to the rain crust. SE-S-SW aspects in the area hold well established melt-freeze conditions. 1 to 2 inches of wet surface snow formed in this area today on SE-S-SW aspects in the 6,700' to 7,700' elevation range traveled. E and W aspects hold a mix of melt-freeze and dry snow conditions.

No evidence of instability observed.
