More detailed information about the snowpack:

Highly variable snow surface conditions exist in the Donner Summit area.  Mostly wind affected snow on all aspects at upper exposed elevations-above 7800'.  Protected lower elevation shaded aspects N-NE still have soft unconsolidated snow and south aspects below 8000' have some spring type snow conditions.  No signs of any wet snow instabilities throughout the day on the solar aspects.

Photo:  12:30pm, South side Mt. Lincoln, 7800', South aspect, 22 degree slope.  3'' of moist soft snow on top of a 1'' ski supportive melt freeze crust, cold winter snow below that and then a more substantial 3'' melt freeze crust on top of more cold winter snow.
