Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Continuous snow cover in this area is limited to N and NE aspects. Shaded areas hold a snowpack structure of weak melt-freeze surface crust on top of facets to ground level. Snow depth on Tamarack peak ranged from 15 to 25cm (6 to 10 in) deep on N and NE aspects. Other aspects held either no snow cover or a shallow full depth melt-freeze snowpack.

Photo 1: Snow cover in Hourglass main bowl. Just enough snow cover to negate the effects of anchoring for new snow that will eventually deposit on top of the surface melt-freeze crust.

Photo 2: Relay Peak as viewed from the summit of Tamarack Peak. Similar continuous snow cover distribution as observed on Tamarack Peak of N and NE aspects.
