Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Gale force ENE winds had scoured much of the recent storm snow off of near treeline and above treeline N-NE-E aspects in this area. Blowing snow was visible off the summit of Mount Rose (photo).

Some minor cracking was observed in wind pillows in lee areas near treeline, but the wind slabs were very small and did not pose a threat to backcountry travelers in the immediate area.

The profiled snowpit was dug below treeline in an area protected from ENE winds. Significantly facted basal snow crystals remain. Temperature profile indicates that faceting is likely to occur within the recent storm snow.

Photos 2 &3: Hourglass Bowl scoured in most areas back down to the height of the melt freeze crust that was the snow surface prior to the recent snowfall.
