More detailed information about the snowpack:

The snowpack in this area is lower elevation than other areas that have been observed over the past couple of weeks. Overall snowcover pattern and the presence of faceted (sugary) snow layers is similar to the other areas observed. Due to the lower elevation of this area at 7,600', a basal ice mass was formed out of the November 20 precipitation event where significant rain fell on top of the October 28 snowfall, before rain changed to snow in this area late on Nov 20 into Nov 21.

Photo: Heavily wind scoured areas above treeline from the Nov 21-23 ENE wind event. Snow cover around 1 foot deep holding at treeline and below treeline on NW-N-NE aspects.
