Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Hand pits, ski cuts on test slopes, snowpit tests and settlement cracks around trees all pointed to settlement and consolidation occurring in the snowpack. Snowpit tests showed good bonding between snowpack layers as well as within the layers themselves. On sheltered northerly aspects the recent snow remains soft and cold, but today's sunshine and warmer temperatures caused the southerly aspects to begin warming up. In wind exposed areas the N-NE winds have scoured the recent snow away from the N-NE-E aspects and left firm wind packed surface and old crusts exposed on those slopes.
