Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

See your breath cold blue bird morning, with approx 1 inch of 2-10mm surface hoar on sheltered surfaces at 0745.  On approach all lower sun affected aspects had approx 1 cm easily breakable crust, while north aspects remained soft and cold.  6-12 inches of cold dense snow depending on elevation and wind loading.  Photo 1 shows obvious snow settlement at base of trees.  Photo 2 is a close up of same.  Photo 3 shows mixed snow melt from sun exposed trees approx half way up at.  Photo 4 shows wide spread wind affect and rime at summit at approx 0845.  By 1100 temperature had risen dramatically, with obvious melt and dripping from trees at all elevations, and obvious warming of snow pack even in sheltered aspects.  Roller ball activity off of rocks on South aspects and hot March sunshine.  Winds were zero to very light all morning.
