Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Inversion conditions has well above freezing air temperatures ongoing at the mid and upper elevations. Significant melt continues to occur in sun exposed areas, expecially on E-SE-S-SW-W aspects. Many have returned to bare ground. On N aspects above 9,300' a supportable, usable snowpack remains, but increasing amounts of travel over bare ground are required to reach the snow on these high elevaion N aspects.

Snowpit data collected on a N aspect, near treeline at around 9,970' revealed ongoing minor faceting of the snowpack, mostly above the basal ice mass. Unconsolidated, one week old storm snow remains fairly well bonded to the basal ice mass despite the faceting.

Photo usable, supportable 1.5 to 2 foot deep snowpack on N aspect at 9,300' with melted out solar aspects of Mt. Houghton and Mount Rose in the background and Relay Pk in the foreground.
