More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Shaded NW-N-NE aspects in protected terrain had 6-8'' of near surface facets on top of a pencil hard rain crust throughout this area.  Wind exposed areas near treeline and above had wind crusts and scouring on the snow surface.  Solar aspects had a variety of melt freeze crusts with different levels of supportability.  Winds were increasing to moderate in the mid day with little to no blowing snow transport.  No signs of instability were observed throughout the day.
