Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

A shallow and variable snowpack exists throughout this area with a mostly useable snowpack above 8500'.  At snowpit location below treeline in mostly protected terrain, small surface slabs were failing on previous near surface facets during snowpack tests.  Correction-snowpit was at 8770'.  These snowpack test results were very easy, consistent, and repeatable.  On exposed terrain, snow surfaces ranged from wind scoured to firm melt freeze crusts that did not soften with the cloud cover today.  Informal observations did not show any signs of instabilities.
