Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

We dug into the old, fat windslab just on the W side of  the ridge south of Andesite's summit.  40 cm of windslab on top of a 2 cm thick layer of weak faceted grains on top of a plinth-hard rain crust.  Facets failed under a compression test (CT15 SC).  Dangers on the ski field today included sticks, rocks, old ski tracks, some small icy patches, and running low on lip balm.  Very warm mid-day with zero wind.  South-facing snow softened nicely.
