More detailed information about the snowpack:

Cold morning temps below about 7000 feet where the upper edge of the inversion seemed to end. On north facing slopes above this line snow was a mix of cold wintry with some areas that received sun having a wet surface. Open areas featured widespread surface hoar. The largest surface hoar crystals were 2 cm. Later in the afternoon on south facing sunny aspects, the snow was wet and soft. Steeper rollovers produced small wet slides in response to skier traffic.

Photo 1: The inversion layer of Lake Tahoe was clearly visible from the warmer higher elevations.

Photo 2: These warmer areas were producing impressive Surface Hoar.

Photo 3: Zoomed in large Surface Hoar.

Photo 4: On sunny aspects around 10,000 feet steep rolls consistently produced wet slides in response to ski turns.

Photo 5: On sunny aspects around 10,000 feet steep rolls consistently produced wet slides in response to ski turns.
