Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Since the Nov 18 observation, the snowpack in this area has diminished significantly between 7,600' and 8,200' due to rain events and above freezing air temperatures during the Thanksgiving week. A usable snowpack exists above 8,200'. A marginally usable snowpack exists between 8,000' and 8,200'. Snowcover below 8,000' is very thin and unusable.

Above 8,000' the snowpack is undergoing near surface faceting. The bond between the recent storm snow and the rain crust below it was still strong during this Nov 29 observation. This bond could deteriorate over time with continued faceting. Surface hoar up to 4 mm in size was noted in open areas below treeline.
